Having cooked for many years while being employed full-time, I had fallen into a mealtime rut. With my CSA shares, I learned to cook so many new items--okra, kohlrabi, daikon radishes, different ways to use eggplant, and so much more. The tomatoes made amazing sauce which we will enjoy this winter. So thankful that we met the wonderful Gompf family! - Candace Fox (Sept 5, 2012)
My husband and I became a CSA share holder with Heritage Harvest this year and we couldn't be happier with our decision! Every week we are treated to the best organic natural produce nature has to offer! We love the variety and abundance! The Gompfs are hardworking, professional, friendly and aren't afraid to try new things! - Jillian Torres Mann (Sept 4, 2012)
Matt, Linda made some of the best cabbage rolls I ever ate tonight for dinner. She used a lot of stuff from your garden including the cabbage and garlic you gave to her and then made a ground beef and rice mixture. You are going to have to get the recipe from her. She also made some Cream Cheese Zuchinni Bread from the zuchinni you gave her and a sauteed vegetable medley with the broccoli and summer squash with toasted sesame seeds. It was a yum yum dinner and most of it came from your garden. - Ed Golden (July 1, 2012)
Last of the Season eggplants
You sold us your two last eggplants a week or so ago, and being the spastic people that we are, at long last, I was faced with using them today or else! Nancy LOVES eggplant parmesan, and I can take it or leave it...in fact, she orders it in the finest Italian restaurants that we go to, and I usually taste it and pass judgement on it as being either worse than mine, as good, or better than mine. I started out this evening to accomplish this task, and to our surprise, this resulted in the best eggplant Parmesan we have EVER had! My wife said "even better than any Italian restaurant" that she has ever had... Now, I was a little worried about these late-comers being a little bitter, and so peeled them with an apple peeler (I normally don't even peel them) and sprinkled them with kosher salt, let them set for an hour or two, rinsed them, dried them and then followed my recipe.
Wow. It's nice to know that we aren't buying eggplants shipped in from southern California or Libya or somewhere! Thanks guys! - Mike Hocker (Oct 23, 2011)
Fresh produce and eggs.
We try to go to the farm every Sunday on our way to Grandma's house. I like to buy fresh produce for dehydrating and the week's meals. We all enjoy the fresh eggs and so do my in-laws. The farm is clean and well kept. Corinne, Matt, and Fletcher are wonderful to talk to. I appreciate the tips on how to use some of the veggies. My husband and daughter enjoy playing with the dog, Buddy. The prices are fair and it's a fun trip for the whole family. - Heather Schade (Sep 19, 2011)
Great Farm- Great People
We visit Heritage Harvest Farm's stand at the farmer's market in Galion. They have great produce and very fairly priced! Corrine's bread and spice mixes are also wonderful! My favorite, though, is their mixed green bags! They make the best salads!! Would recommend them if you want yummy produce, cheaper than the grocery!! - Candi Scott (Sep 18, 2011)
Eggs!
Hubby and I went to the Heritage Harvest Farm to pick up a dozen of eggs that we seen listed on Craigslist, we were very impressed....nice clean place, very friendly folks, and when I opened the eggs, I was delighted to find them big, nicely cleaned, and even blue eggs. Didn't even know they existed...lol! The flavor of these eggs are so wonderful, fresh, and just the way we like them, yummy~! Thank you wonderful lil chickens, you are doing a wonderful job and also to Matt and his family! Please keep doing what you do best, taking care of those wonderful chicks! -
