About Heritage Harvest Farm
In August 2010, Matt and Corinne Gompf, along with their about-to-be two-year-old son, Fletcher, bought and moved to a two-acre property in Galion, Ohio. A one-hundred-year-old farm house and two outbuildings came with the acreage.
Though 2014 is the fourth Heritage Harvest Farm will be offering on-site-grown fruits, vegetables and eggs, the Gompfs are not new to growing. In fact, Matt, an Ohio State University alumnus, is the agriculture-education teacher at Mount Gilead High School. And Corinne, an experienced gardener, graduated from the University of Toledo and wrote a gardening column for community newspapers throughout the country.
Though the Gompfs are still learning about market gardening, they are growers who are very willing to try new varieties that seasoned ones might overlook. That's not to say they don't grow the garden stand-bys. There is plenty for those who crave old-fashioned flavors grown at Heritage Harvest Farm.
And because this is a true working farm, there will always be something new and exciting going on. In June 2013, the Gompfs welcomed a baby girl, Emery, to the family. Juggling marketing gardening and a growing family is keeping everyone busy.
May through October, Heritage Harvest Farm sells produce, eggs and specialty items at the Powell Chamber of Commerce Farmers' Market, Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., and at the Mount Vernon Farmers' Market on Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. These markets serve as CSA pick-up locations, as well as RusMen Farms, in Galion, on Thursdays, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., and the farm on Wednesdays, 4 p.m. - 6 p.m.
As Heritage Harvest Farm shifts from selling at farmers' markets to strictly CSA, this experience has proven that there really is a demand for fresh, local food. And the Gompf family is so proud to be able to offer high-quality food to its customers. It may not be the only CSA, or the cheapest, but Heritage Harvest Farm strives to be the BEST! Just ask our loyal customers.
